The Molins Tobacco Cutting Machine – MK4

The MK4 Tobacco Cutting Machine is a high-capacity rotary cutter capable of processing up to 2700 kg of leaf and 650 kg of stem per hour. Designed to handle all blends, it features an automatic feeding system, hinged bronze conveyor bands, and an adjustable mouthpiece that ensures precise compression before cutting. At its core is an eight-knife rotary cutting head, delivering consistent cut widths with accuracy and reliability across different textures of tobacco.

To maintain performance, the MK4 integrates a self-sharpening grindstone system with diamond dressing, ensuring razor-sharp knives throughout operation. A hot-air gum dispersal unit prevents buildup on blades, while an integrated dust extraction system keeps the process clean and contamination-free. With safety-first features like interlock mechanisms, delayed cowl opening, and easy knife access, the MK4 combines productivity, precision, and operator safety

01. MK 8D High Speed Cigarette Making Machine

02. M2 DUPLEX Shell and Slide Packing Machine

Suitable for speed upto 300 packets per minute

The machine packs two 10’s shell and slide packets simultaneously, the cigarette being wrapped in foil or paper bundles. The machine has twin conveyors from the cigarette hopper which produce wrapped bundles, The bundles are transferred to a third conveyor at right angles along which the final assembly takes place.

The machine is supplied fitted for normal bundle, with an option of embossed and loose front foil parts. Standard features include turretless hopper with agitating rollers, needle slide feed, end flap coding device, electronic detection system for missing cigarettes, slides and bundles with interlocks and full electrical controls and drives.

03. WRAPID 350 High Speed Wrapping Machine

Suitable for speed upto 350 packets per minute

The machine wraps rectangular packets with cellophane/BOPP at speeds up to 350 packets per minute. Packets are fed to the infeed conveyor through a hard link up convey and a starwheel mechanism. The infeed pushers deliver them into the turret while the wrapping material is pulled from a reel, cut precisely to the required length and is positioned in front of the packet with the help of suction bands, enrouter tear tape is attached to the main film.

Key Features

The packets are delivered into an indexed turret with the wrapping material end-folds and long seam heat sealing are done. The packets are then taken on to a straight bed where the remaining end-folds are made by plough folder and sealed by heaters.

The machine is equipped with two bobbin holders and an automatic splicing unit ensuring non-stop operation of the machine. Defective packets are automatically rejected while good packets are collated and pushed forward to the parceling machine. The machine comes with features like safety interlock guards and PLC controlled operation.

04. GPW-III High Speed Wrapping Machine

Suitable for Speed upto 150 packets per minute

The machine does a single-layer over-wrapping of cellophane/BOPP on packets. Packets fed into the magazine are taken forward by an endless conveyor chain. The wrap material is pulled from a reel, notched for the tab and precisely cut to the required length before being positioned in front of the packet. The tear strip is attached to the main film with the help of solvent and a heater.

The packet plunges through the wrap material and is delivered into an indexed turret, where the end folds and long seam heat sealing are done. The packets are then taken onto a straight bed where the remaining folds are made by stationary side guides and heat sealed.

The Collating & parceling machine is a fully automatic over-wrapping machine with two modules-the Collator module and the Parceller module

08. PA7RO Plug Assembling Unit

upto 2000 filter tipped cigarettes per minute

PA 7RO, the plug assembling machine assembles filter tips to plain cigarettes and produces unto 2000 filter tipped cigarettes per minute.

The machine is suitable to link with Mark 8 SM cigarette making machine. It is provided with plug (filter) hopper with tray reserve, tipping material bobbin holder, adhesive reservoir and applicator, single end closure deflector drum, cigarette rolling plate, multivariable cork drum with temperature control, cyclone fan unit, free standing vacuum & pressure pump unit, turning device, forward facing cigarette hand catcher and complete electrical/electronic system.

 

The machine is built from high-precision components having the desired metallurgical and heat-treatment characteristics resulting in low wear and tear, low maintenance, and longer life.

09. PM4 Plug Making Machine

Suitable for speed up to 2500 rods per minute

PM4, the plug making machine produces filter rods at speeds unto 2500 rods per minute (at a maximum speed of 175 meters per minute).

Processed tow or paper is fed into the machine from a separate tow processing unit driven by the PM4 or from a paper reel stand. The PM4 is suitable for handling cellulose acetate type tow and the PM4 ‘S’ paper type materials. The continuous rod is formed wrapped in paper, sealed, cut into multiple lengths and delivered to a hand catcher, automatic tray filling unit or automatic conveyer system.

‘L’ and ‘S’ model machines are supplied with fixed type drums, starch pasting unit, rod lap sealing heaters, rod cut off unit, rod break-out detectors and 1 or 2 row forward or rear facing rod hand catchers. ‘L’ model machines are supplied with 3-folder garnitures and ‘S’ model machines are supplied with single folder garnitures. Either model can alternatively be equipped with hand adjustable ‘D’ shaped folder garnitures. ‘S’ model machines are fitted with pre-compression parts, variable speed drive for main motor and the complete electrical/electronic system.

10. MOIC 2000 High Speed Tobacco Cutter

Cuts ~775 kg/hour depending on tobacco type

Tobacco feed

Two metal conveyor bands compress the tobacco uniformly and progressively. This feed is fully adjustable through a hydraulic control valve to allow for different tobacco blends. The cut width can be varied from 0.15 mm to 3.2 mm. The machine is equipped with a Tobacco Feed Compacting Unit. The two rakes moving in tandem ensure a consistent quantity of tobacco to be evenly spread over conveyor bands, The upper band and mouthpiece ‘float’ so that any variations in the feed of tobacco to the machine are accommodated resulting in a cheese of constant density with high quality of cut.

Cutter Head

Cylindrical cutter head is fitted with 8 knives which pass across the feed mouthpiece and cut the tobacco with shearing action. The width of cut is altered by a hydraulic control valve. The cutter head can be swiveled open which eases cleaning and maintenance. An automatic stopping device is activated if the cutter head is opened while the machine is running.

Main Drive

The drive system is hydrostatic.
An axial piston pump supplies pressurized oil
to two hydraulic motors placed in series,
giving the drive to the cutter head and
conveyor bands. The hydraulic power pack is
designed as a free standing unit for ease of
servicing

Knife Grinding

Automatic knife advance and continuous grinding system with single piece grinding wheel provides a razor sharp edge to the knives. A diamond regularly dresses the grind stone maintaining a good, clean grinding surface.

Mouthpiece

The Pressure on the
mouthpiece is adjustable to suit the condition
of tobacco. In the event of any solid particles
coming with the tobacco, a safety device is
built into the machine whereby, the bottom
mouthpiece clamping screws get sheared
and the machine stops.
